Privacy policy

Version 1.0, dated 02/09/2026.
This policy explains what the BadgeReady app does and does not do with information about you. The short version: the app has no accounts, we collect no personal data, and everything you do in the app stays on your device.
1. Who is responsible
BadgeReady is published by NextGen Software Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 14613977, of 167 to 169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London, W1W 5PF. Our website is nextgensoftware.co.uk. For anything about privacy, email support@badgeready.co.uk.
2. No accounts, no sign in
You do not create an account, and you never give us your name, email address, phone number or any other detail to use the app. There is nothing to sign in to. Your Apple ID or Google account is used only by the App Store or Google Play to take payment for purchases, and the stores do not pass your identity to us.
3. What stays on your device
The app stores the following on your device so it can work, and only there:
- The certification you chose and your exam date.
- Your answers, scores, readiness figures, review queue and retake deck.
- Bookmarks, highlights and notes you create.
- How far you have read each chapter, and the minutes you have spent revising each day.
- Preferences such as appearance and reminder time.
- A record of which certifications you have unlocked, mirrored from the store.
- Local counters of app activity, such as how many mocks you have completed, which are used only for the progress screen.
None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. We cannot see it, and we have no way to link it to you. Deleting the app, or resetting your progress in Settings, deletes it. We keep no copy. Your device's own backup, such as iCloud backup or Google backup, may include the app's data under your control and your device settings.
4. Purchases and RevenueCat
Purchases are made only through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google take the payment and hold your payment details. We never see your card, bank or billing information.
To confirm that a purchase is valid and to restore it on another device, the app uses RevenueCat, a purchase processing service operated by RevenueCat, Inc. When you buy or restore, the app sends RevenueCat:
- The store receipt or purchase token issued by Apple or Google.
- An anonymous app user ID, generated randomly on your device by the RevenueCat software and stored there. It is not your name, email address, Apple ID or Google account, and it cannot be traced back to you by us.
- Basic device information needed to process the request, such as the platform and app version.
RevenueCat uses this to tell the app which products your store account owns. It does not receive any of the revision data described in section 3. RevenueCat's own privacy policy describes how it handles this information and where it is stored. The anonymous app user ID is the only purchase related item kept on the device apart from the unlock record itself.
5. Crash reports
The app is built with the ability to send crash reports to Sentry, an error monitoring service operated by Functional Software, Inc. Crash reporting is switched on or off when the app is built, not from inside the app, and it is off unless we enable it for a release. The build you download from the App Store or Google Play sends no crash reports and makes no connection to Sentry unless it was built with crash reporting enabled. If we enable it for a release, we will say so in this policy.
When crash reporting is enabled, a report is sent if the app crashes or a step in its start up fails. A report contains technical detail only: the app version, the device model and operating system version, the point in the code where the fault happened, and the actions the app took shortly before. The app also tells Sentry when a session starts and whether it ended in a crash, so we can see how often crashes happen. A report never contains your name, email address, answers, notes, highlights, bookmarks or exam date, and we do not use it to identify you.
6. Reminders and notifications
Reminders are local notifications, scheduled on your device by the app itself. There is no push notification server, and nothing about your reminders leaves the device. The app asks for permission before scheduling anything, and you can turn reminders off in Settings or in your device's notification settings at any time. If you decline permission, no reminders are scheduled.
7. Links to GOV.UK
The licensing guide links to pages on GOV.UK. These open in your device's web browser, not inside the app, so you can see the address you are on. Once you are on GOV.UK, its own privacy notice applies. We do not see which links you open.
8. What we do not do
- We do not use analytics or tracking software in the app.
- We do not show advertising or share anything with advertisers.
- We do not collect your location, contacts, photos or any other data from your device.
- We do not sell, rent or trade any information, because we hold none.
- We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children. The app is intended for people preparing for an SIA licence, who must be 18 or over.
The only network connections the app makes are to the App Store or Google Play to buy and restore, to RevenueCat as described in section 4, and to Sentry only when crash reporting has been enabled as described in section 5. The app otherwise works fully offline.
9. If you email us
If you email support@badgeready.co.uk, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to answer you, and we keep it only for as long as we need to deal with your query. Please do not send us anything you do not need to.
10. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights over personal data that an organisation holds about you, including the right to ask what is held, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its use. Because the app gives us no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to provide, correct or delete beyond any email you have sent us. If you have a question or concern, email support@badgeready.co.uk and we will respond.
For information held by Apple, Google, RevenueCat or Sentry, their own privacy policies explain how to exercise your rights with them.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the app changes or the law changes. The current version is always available in the app under Settings, with its version and date at the top. If a future version of the app started to collect personal data, we would say so plainly here and in the store listing before it happened.
